I am a junior who are only friends with managers. It wasn't intentional, I have just spent the most time working with them. We are also very few juniors in my area allowing for few options. Probably looking like a suck-up to others. Is this normal? Should I try making friends in other departments? If so,any advice on how to do that?

Every time I speak to my director (at least twice a week), he works in how he is getting older into the conversation(humorously). For instance, he forgot something non-work related, said “sign of old age”. He recently told a story, said, this is how old people talk. He likes to come across as a grandfatherly figure, but I’m not sure what to say in these encounters. It is always an innocent, non work related context. Have you guys experienced this ? What is an appropriate response ?

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’ve been asked by a client to coach their team on how to structure and write scripts for their corporate event content (e.g. panel discussions). I’ve happily had a crack at helping them but it’s a bit out of my wheelhouse - is this ask something that would ordinarily be given to an agency copywriter? Or would it usually be something a content or speech writer would do?

🐠- My parents have been trying to get B-1 visa appointment for few months to visit me to extend support during/after child birth. They originally were able to schedul for Oct but it was recently canceled by the counslate. The current earliest date is in March. Any suggestions on options to expedite appointment scheduling?
