I am so over the Courts in California being so pro-Plaintiff. And on top of that, Judge's that seem eager to bend over backward to help even seasoned Plaintiff's lawyers get every advantage in the world even when they are wrong about the law and downright incompetent is just making it harder and harder to have anything positive to look forward to in this field. I almost never feel hopeful going into to Court anymore that I will win even when I clearly should win. Just venting. Thanks.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

I am a fourth year attorney and am on track to be partner of a small but well established ID firm in 2-3 years. Our bread and butter is ID but I have the freedom to take on any matters I like.

I do not want to be doing ID forever but I really don’t know what comes next. What other similar but more advanced (and better paying) fields of defense litigation are out there? Is the next type of civil defense litigation just going out and being hired by private companies?

I have worked in house for an insurer for 20 years plus. New to this group but excited to see dialogue and networking opportunities.

For those who like litigation, but not personal injury and premises liability claims, why areas are you feeling the most traction in while looking for lateral moves to other firms?

I worked FT as a paralegal and went to law school in the evening. I recently interviewed at a small ID firm in employment law with about 9 attorneys. They asked for a writing sample. I dont have anything recent but provided what I had from last yr in a legal writing class, it was not enough for them. I became licensed this May so I dont have an array of motions to pick from. Then they asked for my undergrad transcript, at this point, I am now annoyed They are not Biglaw. Are they going overboard
