It’s a tough one because yes, being efficient is sometimes a blessing and a curse. But, at least in our group, it’s a team effort. Life things come up and some people fall behind and others help them out. It may be different people next season but we are still a team, we pull together. Just think about the rave reviews you’ll get for finishing early AND helping out other people 👍
I’d like to help in that situation. But my team culture now is that most others (those under utilized, staffs/seniors/managers) just want to “take it easy” and I feel bad because it’s unfair to me that I work so hard... I work 200hrs just in first half of September, I don’t see others help me - even I asked for help they claimed they are busy
push back sometimes. it shows your human
Did the partner ask you to? And did you ask why?
You’re a manager — say no and delegate!
Tell them you’re at capacity too and suggest someone else — say that it will impair your work quality for existing clients. It’s okay to say no to your partners — if they won’t understand, you’re probably not working under the right partners.
Good luck!
Unless you play politics and know they’ll reward you with raise/bonus, I would join the other crowd and help out when you can or feel like if.
Seen HR say it’s part of your job to help them, but to that I say, it’s part of the staff’s job to do as much work as I’ve already done. (Typically only when there’s a huge difference!)
