I have PTO to use by the end of the year, or I’ll lose it. I’m worried that it will effect my low utilization if I use it. What should I do?

Yes! Life won’t come again. Another job will

Can't believe you guys get dinged on UTILIZATION for PTO. That's just Savage

Use it! Eff utilization, you are not a robot you are a person! Life is for living!

If you already have low utilization, will it matter?

Who cares? Take your PTO.

Are your year end reviews done? If so it will only impact next year's... And PTO are given to be used.... Don't lose them for nothing...

Better to book PTO than non chargeable hours

like

Have you done the math to see how much your PTO will actually drop your util?

like

Isn’t your utilisation adjusted for pto? For us utilisation is calculated against workable hours (time minus vacation and sick leave)

like

Same boat. I have 5 weeks of vacation I am losing. But my utilization was so low due to gaps between projects and joined a new project no way I can take more than a week or two in December.

No. We have a set number of hours we have to bill, and that doesn’t change no matter how much PTO you use. Taking PTO between projects is hard too because networking and doing business development is so critical to getting on that next project.

I’m quitting my job tomorrow morning. I don’t have a new job lined up. I’m scared, but also excited? I’ve felt under utilized for months, and haven’t had a promotion after two years. I never take risks like this, but life is too short. Is this a bad choice?

Hi, I’m looking to switch into marketing (entry level), as consulting is not aligned with my skill set/passions. Does anyone know of any ad agencies in LA that have good work-life balance, good pay, PTO, great culture, training? Your help means more than you know!!! Looking to do informational interviews and try to network my way in, as I feel the barrier to entry was much harder than anticipated. Anything helps, thank you so much!

Outside of salary, what other things have people negotiated as new hire, I’ve seen more PTO, working from home, sign on bonus, even stock options? How have you negotiated these things especially if you are new to negotiating? Any books or references that gave you a great foundation. I’ve been on my job search from sometime now and getting more interviews, I’m willing to take a pay cut, but wonder what else I can ask for outside of more pay? Thanks

Any charismatic churches with a decent group of young professionals in Philly?

Reading posts here it seems as engineers in the US get's atleast $100k, people with 4-5 YOE in SWE seems to have ~$250K. Working in Sweden my base pay is $50k, bonus per year of $5k and I usually have to work overtime making my salary in total at a maximum $70k. I have 4 YOE and also work as SWE. Sweden has a insanely high tax rate (employee tax is 33% below 56k, 50% over $56k). There's also employers tax, and highly taxed fuels, food, clothes, which ends up in total paying around in 80% tax.

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem.
