Anyone else struggling with hormones / mood swings? I am almost 16 weeks and been having a real tough time lately, feeling really down and stressed about things. Take victories and defeats as equals! Nothing will teach young soldiers more than making mistakes in the heat of battle that almost cost you your life. If you're still breathing, there's something to learn. Listen to it.

Many movies romanticize the sacrifice of one soldier and leave them as a hero, but I have always thought that I hate that. Why would someone need to lose his life to be a hero? I believe the mere fact that we put our life at risk in service is enough to be a hero

I brought my guitar to Iraq, it wasn't easy, but I managed to convince my commander to let me take it. I will never forget those days when we played our favorite country songs with my buddies.

My advice: Concentrate on yourself above anything else, follow orders but also know how those orders affect you, serve your country but never forget you are serving yourself first. The objective is not to die honorably but to survive dutifully. What else would you add?

In many ways, I feel the same as before I enrolled. I don't understand how because I've lived so many things since then, but at the core, I feel like it hasn't affected me. It's weird. Am I missing something?
