How did you get into IT?
I Transitioned into IT without a College degree. Took some time and was even unemployed while I was getting IT training. There are a few IT Training for Veterans who want to transition. VETsInTech, Workforce of Opportunity, IVMF to name a few. I went thru a non profit called NPower, www.npower.org.
Their Fundamentals course is basic but they help you find IT jobs when you complete the program. I can share more info if you'd like.
I wish I had taken more advantage of my GI Bill while I was in the military. Since I didn't, I'm looking into what courses I can take to use the benefits before they expire. I'm currently researching online programs and certification courses that will help me advance my career in IT. With any luck, I'll find something that works for me and get the most out of my GI Bill.

TLDR - Get any degree. Specially now that you are a full-time employee. Transfer as much Military credits you can. Most of your Military credits will transfer to any Bachelors of Arts degree.
I'm also in IT with no Bachelors Degree. Before I landed my job, I was turned away multiple times by big named companies, like Accenture, by HR or Hiring Managers because I did not have a degree even after going thru a second and third interview. Come to find out, it is just a check in their box, any bachelors degree would have suffice. Underwater basket weaving comes to mind.
