For my pcos ladies on metformin, interesting news article. Be careful out there. The good news I hear is that metformin leaves the body pretty quickly so in 2 days you won't have it in you anymore. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/victoriaforster/2020/04/05/researchers-warn-that-covid-19-treatment-t

Pretty well I guess. Mostly told her what has been going on recently and some past stuff - barely scratched the surface. So I’m looking forward to having more sessions and going down the road towards feeling better
Good for you, starting is hard
I would call your primary doctor first and ask for a referral for a therapist. Medication might be helpful, but I always think it’s a good idea to talk to a therapist first and see what he/she thinks. My doctor prescribed me medication for depression before I talked to a therapist or psychiatrist, and the medication made me feel suicidal and landed me in the hospital. Get some people who know about mental health on your team before you start taking meds
Thank you!!
How’d it go?
Proud of you! Such a great step
Congrats. It takes time to build rapport. If after 3 or so sessions if you aren’t on the same page or feel judged or misunderstood. Find someone else. Too many stick with bad ones bc they’re afraid to hurt their feelings.
I went to one I knew it wasn’t a fit. I tend to monologue and he was 15 mins behind my train of thought. Find someone who understands but will clarify and occasionally challenge your personal assumptions to make you evaluate in a non judgmental way
^thanks, I’m glad you said that. She asked about my drinking habits (I was telling her how both my parents are alcoholics) and told her that I occasionally go out to bars in the city with friends and will get drunk (I’m 25), but don’t drunk during the week and can go somewhere and either not drink or only be in the mood for a couple beers. She did seem a little judgy to that and said “if that’s your idea of fun”
Don’t be so defensive about your drinking - if you are depressed, drinking should be off limits for 2 major reasons: 1) alcohol is a depressant. 2) many anti-depressant drugs don’t play well with ethanol.
And - a genetic predisposition to alcoholism is a warning flag. If you can’t go cold turkey for the next 3 months, you may have a bigger problem than you would like to admit.
I know I have an anxiety disorder and have been feeling depressed the past year, how do I even start to get help? Do I got to a doctor? Therapist? Psychiatrist?
Thank you that’s super helpful!
