Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Mid-February to Mid-August = 6 months
5 months, and I took a 20% pay cut and a contract position just to get back to work.
Still looking, 15 months in.

Just under 7 months - and that was a contract role, having applied for well over 100 roles. As other say, you just need to keep ploughing on...
3 month. It was the longest 3 months of my life and I took a 10,500 pay cu. I am a veteran and this was my first time being unemployed in 26 years. I had to learn the job market , AI resume writing, oh and my professional identity… IN THREE MONTHS! It was LITERALLY 12+ hours a day figuring out LinkedIn, glass door, indeed , that the Navy’s HR is broken up over several civilian job titles, could be called total rewards, fighting with my AI to translate my career I was only about three hours of sleep, but I position and started this past Monday. I think the job is going to be a great fit, SUGGESTIONS: use AI to cultivate alternate searches outside of job boards, unemployment resources are actually helpful, if you are a veteran, so our veteran employment resource resources, ask AI to tell you ALL of the many title/positions that your skills are a match to not just passed job titles, jobfairs, and networking is a must and don’t be afraid to pivot
I was laid off in October.. it has been nine months. I have been on over 100 interviews. I think my former employer may be trashing me. I have come close but no final offer
I was laid off at the end of August and I start a new position August 3rd. Just keep putting in the work, can't build a house if you don't lay the foundation.

In March, at work I was given the choice between being laid off or pay cut in half (small tech company, doing poorly). I chose pay cut. I applied a lot more.
In May I was laid off. Still applying hard.
Got a job offer at beginning of July, and I start at the beginning of August.
So that’s either 8 months since first applications, 4-5 months since the big pay cut, and around 2 months since full layoff… until the job offer I accepted.
Been searching off and on for two years. Recently started a part-time job as a PM. I also substitute teach at a local highschool.

I was laid off Jan 23, 2026. I am still looking and it is 7/24/2026. I was a level 3 service desk agent
17 months in and after 30+ years I’m declined as over qualified over under educated (AI comes up a lot). I’m also about done with all nonsense. If you hear a big splash that’s me falling off a bridge.
Laid off two weeks before thanksgiving. Found a job in less than month thankfully. Decided to start after New Years to spend time with family.
