If you were to leave consulting, what's your dream industry and/or role (excluding working for yourself)?

Management consultant evaluating an offer from Google’s Go-to-market team (Strategy & Operations) in India. Two questions:
1. Given it’s an internal consulting role, are the hours equally bad / worse than consulting firms?
2. Is it virtually impossible to move to a product ladder after spending 1-2 yrs in the role?

If you had $5k to spend on courses or professional development, where would you spend it to maximize ROI in terms of PM career trajectory or building useful skills?

Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. The path to in-house seems more straightforward for general commercial lit or more standard transactional practices. Any tips for someone who’s practice is a bit of a hybrid (and who will never likely do discovery or handle a depo)

I have an impromptu review tomorrow and am hoping to negotiate a higher salary as my role has been expanded since hired, and we have lost a designer with no intention of hiring anyone to fill the position. Hoping to get some comparable salaries to see where I stand and what to ask for.

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? I’m so burnt out by big law and this seems like an awesome opportunity to help shape a newish company. Any tips on how to figure out if this is the right move for me?

I’ve worked in retail buying since graduating from college, but I am looking to pivot into interior design. However, I don’t know how to jump into the industry and don’t want to take a huge pay cut starting in an entry-level role. I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

The same jobs open for 2 1/2 yrs reposting salaries after interviewing 100 then cutting the salary by up to $50k They say can’t find people but they fire you in 90 days when your working 80 hours a week or people are walking!

About to have a final round at Msft. I realized I never had a conversation with a recruiter (I was reached out to directly by a team member) to discuss logistical details (potential start date, relocation, salary expectations). It is fair for me to ask for that type of conversation before the final round, or does that seem presumptuous?

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."
