Thank you all! This was helpful
Salaries are highly variable, but look at the Robert Half guide for a general idea. In house the entire pay package (RSUs, bonus, salary, 401k) is more important, but don't place too much value on equity for any company that isn't pubic.
The equity can be valuable in that case, but it is also really difficult to assess. You need to be sure that the company will actually IPO and that the IPO will be successful. Even then, there are a lot of tricks that can be used to reduce the value of any equity grants, and even if they are valuable, you'll have to wait out a lockup to sell them.

I’m class of 2017. At a $5 billion company in a major city. 108k + 15% bonus. But it really depends a lot of the bigger companies pay less for more junior attorneys because they are “cool” places to work.
Wow that seems low for a 3rd year

Look at Lawyer Whisperer blog posts. Anything from 150 to 200k. 10% bonus. Plus equity. I am c/o 2016 and was told that was range for my vintage looking last Fall in Silicon Valley. And salaries at tech companies largely havent fallen.
And the 200K is for real superstars...Id anchor closer to 175 185K base.
Not that Amazon pays less than this due to company cash caps, as a policy.
Barker Gilmore also has a downloadable salary guide.

All of the above. I went in-house for a major client two years ago and they matched my previous year's BASE salary (I joined in Feb. so they had not heard about the new raise). I loved my old firm, still get to work with them, and have a much better quality of life now. Also I live in a very cheap state so my salary goes a long way (my base salary is equivalent to the purchase price of my 5 bed 3 bath home in 2015). I turned down a much higher SF job because of cost of living.
Also in addition to all of the other resources. talk to others on the organization. I know the salary of others about 10 years my senior. Thus, I know the pay bands of future levels.
NYC; Fortune 500 tech company. 180k base with 50k two year sign-on bonus. 5 years out, joined last year.
I'm looking to go in house. Currently in NYC, class of 2008. Is 200K an unreasonable ask for my seniority? Obviously, understand that it varies by company.
