I can definitely relate to that feeling.. it’s tough when you know you have more to offer but things slow down. I try to focus on growth in other ways, whether it’s learning new skills, mentoring others, or taking on smaller projects that keep me engaged. It’s about staying ready for when the opportunity comes, or that's what my mentor always tried to instill in me when I was first starting.
Yeah that's fair... I guess that's not part of the day job. There's nobody to mentor (like most companies... we're senior heavy atm). So maybe just focus on other side projects... might have to be my own projects because at the moment the business has way too many seniors to the point that I'm not breaking a sweat. Very much strolling and still keeping up with the workload.
What changed? I got my first promo a year after joining and when I didn't get the next promo within the next 2 years I felt the same. Looking back, I deserved it but also was a little impatient. Management changes slow these things down.
Follow your gut, you know best. For as long as you stay, try to set specific goals with your manager and keep track of the progress in all your 1:1
