I'm an IC who was on a fast track for career progression, and I've suddenly found myself in a situation where I no longer feel like I'm on that track. I know my time will come here or (more likely) at another business. The question is... when you know you've got plenty in the tank, how do you all find the patience to cope with this lull in progress?

I can definitely relate to that feeling.. it’s tough when you know you have more to offer but things slow down. I try to focus on growth in other ways, whether it’s learning new skills, mentoring others, or taking on smaller projects that keep me engaged. It’s about staying ready for when the opportunity comes, or that's what my mentor always tried to instill in me when I was first starting.

like

Yeah that's fair... I guess that's not part of the day job. There's nobody to mentor (like most companies... we're senior heavy atm). So maybe just focus on other side projects... might have to be my own projects because at the moment the business has way too many seniors to the point that I'm not breaking a sweat. Very much strolling and still keeping up with the workload.

What changed? I got my first promo a year after joining and when I didn't get the next promo within the next 2 years I felt the same. Looking back, I deserved it but also was a little impatient. Management changes slow these things down.

Follow your gut, you know best. For as long as you stay, try to set specific goals with your manager and keep track of the progress in all your 1:1

Venturing into Agile

I currently work as an Change and Release manager. I became very interested in Agile and have pursued growing in knowledge. I have the PSM1 as well as the CSM. I also plan on doing the PSPO certification.
I am also in graduate school and a few classes shy of my MBA. I have over 20 years experience. I am curious as to what the salary range is for Agile coaches, Scrum Masters, or even Product Owners. Having this information will help me negotiate well in my next role.

I'm paying arround 22k emi for the same but unable to exempt tax as the loan is on my father's name.

Tax is also getting deducted, I'm paying hefty emis.
What can I do?

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? "Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time
