I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?

I agree with this completely. I saw a quote on Instagram that said something like “the only people that will remember you worked that much is your kids.” It really hit home for me…none of it matters at the end of the day…none of the people at work truly care about you. Titles won’t matter when you’re on your death bed and a company will lay you off in a second if they need to.
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way!!! This is just a job yet it consumes our entire health and well being

Worst job ever. You knock on a lot of doors for nothing
dang, I know you're probably being facetious about the 50k payout but I feel that desperation in your tone; your not alone.
Sadly I do mean it. I make around 150k and I’m ok to make 100k if needed to have a better mental health
I feel you.
Define what you been by "not super crazy hectic" because I'm sure that definition varies from person to person
I’ve been there. And I’m kinda there now - open to lower salary.
I actually went through an interview process recently and despite great feedback didn’t get the gig.
Maybe I’m considered overqualified? Or too old or any other negative thing I can imagine. But I avoid paranoia and negative self talk. Who knows why they decided how they did. I’ll never know. So, I immediately move on.
Point is, it’s not easy to make a career downgrade and when the adversity comes, hold your head high.
