I would revisit HRT with your doctor, the HRT = breastcancer link is complicated https://www.breastcancer.org/risk/risk-factors/using-hormone-replacement-therapy
Hi, I understand how frustrating this is. My dr just recommend black cohosh because I am leery of hrt. Thank you for pointing out the potential risk to animals. I have tried maaca root and it has helped with the night sweats. Vitamin D is essential. I am on month of four of no period and hoping it stays away. I’m sending you positive thoughts.
Agree on the HRT comment. I would suggest finding a provider that can evaluate you for bio identical hormones. I am on testosterone, progesterone and thyroid and my brain fog has improved and I have more energy. I will eventually go on estrogen but it’s not time as I am only in perimenopause. It was life changing for me.
I know this is an old post, however, I thought I'd comment in case it helps anyone else.... I have been in menopause for almost 2 1/2 yrs now. I had an issue as well not being able to get my weight below a certain point. I've been trying several things and keep hitting a plateau or bounce back up and down repeatedly. Back in the early 2000's I had gotten 2 Personal Trainer certifications. I've always been active and love strength training. No one warned me about all the crazy things that happen to you when you go from perimenopause to menopause. It's been a big shock. I've experienced the brain fog, low energy, mood swings, body inflammation, hot flashes, night sweats, fat gain, etc. I can say that one thing has made a big difference for me. For the last 4 weeks, I have been on an all protein diet. This has been red meat, chicken, fish, eggs and Ora Organics protein powder. (I have allergies so I have to avoid certain things.) The fat is coming off like crazy! The scale hasn't changed much but my Winnie the Pooh belly has shrunk A LOT and my legs are getting leaner. I can finally press my ankles and knees together again. I've lost only about a pound a week. Due to time constraints, I haven't done more than about 20 to 30 mins of weight training and body weight training about 4 times per week. The body inflammation which prevented me from being able to wear my wedding ring and from being able to comfortably grip the steering wheel is almost non-existent now. I had to add in about 30 to 40 grams of healthy fat per day as I was starting to have trouble sleeping and staying asleep just in the 4th week of the all protein diet. I have only in the last 4 days started to eat a little bit of carbs...brown rice and corn/wheat flour things.. that has been a big mistake as my body inflammation has flared back up again. I do my best to avoid processed foods, dyes and chemicals found in packaged foods. I take 5,000 IU's of D3, some calcium, flaxseed, K2 and vitamin C daily. I have more energy on the all protein diet and minimal healthy fats/natural food carbs, less brain fog, and the fat is still coming off. I'm slowly fitting back into the things I've had in my closet for years and couldn't get into. My sleep is getting better with the reintroduction of min healthy fats from red meat and grass fed grass finished butter and certain cheeses. Check out Lillie Kane a Nutritionist on YouTube. She has great info and tips about food and how it affects our bodies at any age. It's the only thing that has worked for me and I'm 55+.
One important additional note, I've been eating at least 1 gram of protein per pound of my desired body weight or a little more each day. Protein keeps you feeling full.
