I'm currently practicing within a federal agency. Started in July 2023 after previously working as a law school career counselor and before that, a prosecutor. Currently, I am awaiting a decision from AF JAG. Curious to know if anyone has ever transitioned from a federal civilian job to the military, and if so, what was the experience like? If this is a 'smart' move. I've only met people who transitioned the other way around and have yet to meet any female, attorney of color who has done so.

Hi! I was approached by Databricks to join as a CSE, did the interview process and got and offer. I'm currently a Senior Data Scientist at IBM, going for manager soon. I was curious if others did a similar switch and if they were happy with their decision.

I am currently in industry, but was a Senior in Accounting Advisory, and before that an audit associate. I’m thinking of trying DDV at PwC as I’ve always been interested in M&A integration, but am unsure on carry over of skills and also would like to go somewhere I can be bumped to Manager as I was almost there prior to leaving industry. Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?

What is the starting Salary for entry level insurance defense attorney in NYC area?

What are the chances of getting a lower offer because you're POC applying at a fairly large law firm? Not big law or anything but still. Friend and I both got offers, came out of the same school and have very similar internship experience. He's white and I'm not, his offer is significantly higher. How low is low enough to walk away?

Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way. I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.

What was your experience with the LSAT? Do you think it's gatekeeping, preventing students who can't afford it (often people of color) from entering the field?
