In my experience 3rd busy season is the worst. Take time to go for a hike. Fresh air and exercise do the body good
Do things that make you feel in alive and in the moment when you're not at work.... spending time outdoors, yoga or weight lifting, drugs or alcohol, board games.... try to stay away from screens.... whatever fits you
@Op. I imagine it’s because you’re at a point in your career where you can no longer get away with just being a staff. You understand enough for the stress to really get to you. But not so much that you know the stress is unnecessary. I promise it gets much better.
I’ve also seen lots of break ups year 3 and freak accidents. Personally, my year three I broke my ankle, had bronchitis, failed REG lost the three parts I had passed, and worked 80-90 per week for 8 weeks. It was a night mare
@M1 you’re probably right. Every day consists of work being piled on me non stop and feeling like I never get ahead. I guess that’s part of it
@OP. Yup but the good news is. It does end. :) my recommendation to get you threw it would be gratitude journaling. At lunch ever day think of one thing your grateful for from that day and be specific. With consistency it can change your mindset
@Manager1 why do you think that’s the case? I hope it gets better
Stay engaged!!! If you stay in and hide after work it’s really hard to get motivated again. Find something that makes you happy
Leave
Back to normal? I shouldn’t have pushed myself so hard with studying during busy season. Now my brain is gone and all I want to do is sleep. I’ve always been a hard worker and highly motivated and now every day I wake up thinking ‘f it’ about everything
Force yourself to make some time for you on weekend and Friday evening. See friends and family. Spend time outside. You need something to look forward to.
As much I advocate for drugs, because they are fun and awesome, don’t do drugs if you are depressed. It will only make it worse in the long run when the extreme high of the drug wears off, you will only feel more miserable
You sound as if you are depressed. Some people fight depression with exercise. That hasn’t really helped me. Think about therapy with a social worker, a PhD, or with a psychiatrist. Also read “The Drama of the Gifted Child” by Alice Miller
