Hey there!
I am a Masters Student majoring in Machine Learning. I am in my first semester and I am kind leaning to explore Data Science as well. Could any Professional Data Scientists help me out on getting started? What skills do I focus on? What kind of projects should I have on my portfolio?
I have tried looking this info out in the internet but its all overwhelming. Hoping to get some honest guidance here!

I feel the same way! Also mid-30's here. Clearly there's a different breed of workers in the water these days. It looks like financial and tech have the best opportunities. Definitely inspiring me to go out and 'get that bread' as the kids are saying.
Spot on!
Use that as an inspiration but never a discouragement to your own efforts. Education is always welcome and you going back to school in your 30's is only a testament to your hard work and dedication. Good luck!
