A book that resonated with me was The Shepherd's Life by James Rebanks. It's a memoir by an English farmer and it's fascinating, touching upon the value of work, family, history, and a lot of interesting animal lore. It's a reminder of how hard some people work in challenging environments and how much we take for granted in our coddled existences. The book became surprisingly popular, and isn't hard to find.
Reading a thoughtful and well researched (and surprisingly un-dry) book right now about the global supply chain called, “How the world ran out of everything,” by Peter Goodman.
And I just finished “Homeland Elegies” by Ayad Ahktar which is a beautiful and gutsy fictional memoir about being a first generation Pakistani-American in the age of 9/11 and Trump. Good stuff.
I have been seeing people talking about their book totals for the year, I’m at maybe 15 pages total for the year. Made it a point last year to try and read more, get outside my normal genres, but fell all the way off this year. Don’t really have anything good to recommend though outside of the popular pages on the book websites!
long island compromise is a great read
This is not at all business related but you should definitley read Colleen Hoover's books. She is such a good writer and she makes it impossible to put her books down. I read one while my power was out from the hurricane and I finished it in two days because I literally couldn't put it down.
