You absolutely don't need to train your own model to get photos resembling existing people, some platforms make it trivially easy. But I would be hesitant to throw around accusations like that - it's entirely possible the generative model he's using just gave those results from prompts and you're associating them with existing people whose faces you're familiar with.
Are they white? Or conventionally attractive in any stereotypical ways? Because that's what genAI imagery is likely to reproduce anyway, some kinds of people are just disproportionately more trained-on than others.

We’ve had conversations with everyone about not using unapproved GenAI. The issue is that we had multiple art directors and copywriters using it before we had an official policy and approved GenAI vendors. And it still happens. This person isn’t even the worst offender in comparison. Sometimes it is harder to tell, as most of the stock sites are also flooded with GenAI.
But no GenAI generated art was ever used in produced client work, only storyboards or mood boards. Art directors still will use Google images for mood board swipe. Not for final work.
We have a process for purchasing stock and making sure nothing slips out that can’t be accounted for.
If they’re using the work laptop and work approved account to make the comps, but they’re using a personal computer to do stuff at home, presumably then not in a work account, how would the model transfer?
Maybe someone else in the office is using their work laptop to do this and this person’s comps are pulling from the trained office model?

They were making the comps with Stable Diffusion off of their home PC. Our work computers don’t allow users to install stuff like that themselves. We can only use Adobe Firefly at work. The results are noticeably different.
This sounds like an episode of black mirror
Why are you so worried? Tell them to stop and that’s it. Why do you need to prove anything?
Again just say “ we’re not allowed to work this way, and you can only use adobe firefly, and we need to have the work done on the company issued computer we provided to you.” if the answer is no, I’m good, show them the door.

This is so weird. Goddammit I fucking hate AI
A) You don’t have any evidence he’s doing anything wrong. Posting about this on Fishbowl seems like a liability for you (and your company). Imagine he’s telling the truth and sees this highly specific post after being questioned about this, written by someone who’s in a position of power over him.
B) Assuming he’s using an AI tool at home using pictures of his female coworkers, what do you suspect he’s doing? Going to a creepy place feels like a stretch — there’s a huge wide world of naked people on the internet. A more likely scenario is he’s doing something dumb, like creating work memes and sending them to people.
You’re making this weird, not him.
really bad take
This is hot
Super happy I don’t work with or for you. If you can’t speak like an adult to an employee you’re in no position to lead. You’ve only half-ass addressed the problem… sort of, and are making some *wild AF* accusations about what MIGHT be happening at his house.
You’re half stepping and being vague here too, BTW. What *exactly* makes these images resemble coworkers? Because now I’m half convinced you’re the only one who sees it and the one with creepy thoughts.
Well color me completely unsurprised

That person needs to be sent to a mental hospital. Talk to his parents. Dangerous self destructive behavior. Grounds for firing.
Being concerned about what he ‘may’ be doing at home? Seriously?! Do you not realize how intrusive and unhinged that sounds?

Hey S&S1: this person generated images of female coworkers using his own computer and put them in decks for work. That’s why we know. It’s intrusive to steal someone’s likeness and use it without their consent. His denial was that it couldn’t be them as their bodies are different. AI tends to sexualize women’s bodies, by adding larger breasts, and makeup, etc.
It is weird to do this.
We can’t intrude to see what he is doing at home besides what he shared in decks.
It’s intrusive to steal a woman’s likeness and sexualize it.
Additionally, you don’t seem to have a real grasp on how AI works so that compounds the concern

You can train GenAI to look like specific people.
If an AD is using AI for comps for a pitch deck, who cares? It's spec art, not production art. There are no legal issues with using Gen AI for comps. Just go do your work.
Except you seem to be the only person who thinks it is your coworkers image. I agree with the comment that you are making it weird. If you honestly think there is an issue, give your opinion to HR and get back to work.
Have the female coworkers said anything?
If you want anything actually done about it, it sounds like a formal HR complaint is your only option. Seems like you’ve exhausted all other options.

Upload a picture on midjourney. Use —cref and that’s all you need to generate a face. And depending on the prompt you can get pretty revealing.

Also a company policy around AI is not a bad idea but it doesn’t solve this problem. Anyone that is half decent on photoshop can do a face swap.
