Not your problem.. 100+ is reasonable. My most sep expensive uber was $250 to date
I commute 34 miles to the airport and expense that mileage and pay for parking in lieu of Uber/Taxi which I’ve priced to be more expensive. Should I not be expensing mileage since I live 45 miles from the home office?
Nah not crazy. Also just imagine if it was a black car which is usually in policy 😀
You can spend a lot less than $500/month on a car. It's transportation, doesn't have to be a status symbol also.
Just think of it this way. Would have been double if it were a cab
Denver Airport - and I live about 70 miles from the airport for reasons out of my control (just moved here). A1, it's not that insane, I took 100 dollar cab rides from Midtown to EWR but that was to and from the client.
Damn... they let you live 70 miles from the airport? How far are you from the office? Are you staff level (assuming due to question)?
How else would you get to airport if you don’t own a car?
How do you get around living in the burbs without a car??
What airport and where do you live?
What on earth. Yeah that’s insane. My Uber’s are like $45-65 to the closest airport
D1 - Yep. I'd be screwed if I were put on a local gig.
P1 - Was considering buying one for commuting to the airport among other reasons. However, if I can uber it diminishes the urgency of having to buy one.
When can you move op? That’s the real answer.
Ha I just moved here! Not for a while. Honestly not that bad, at 4 am 70 miles is 45 minutes in Colorado. Took me an hour to go 12 miles in my last city.
I live in the Denver area too. How do you not have a car? That said, I regularly expense car service to the airport for ~ $100.
DD2 not really the suburbs, but SO has a car so I want to see how that works. I REALLY want a car because I like to drive but I can't stomach shelling out 500 dollars every month (with gas and insurance) for something I don't really need.
45 min commute in consulting is not sustainable. Pray you stay traveling.
Definitely something I've thought about, that said I know plenty of folks that do hour+ commutes daily from New Jersey / Long Island to Manhattan.
What would it cost for you to drive? Mileage + Tolls + Parking? If it is close to the Uber cost don’t worry. If Uber is a lot more then I would ask your seniors for guidance
P1 as far as I am aware, driving is much cheaper. since policy dictates that I can only expense mileage in excess of what my commute to my home office is (since I live equally far from both its basically a wash). I'd only expense parking and tolls (~100 dollars per week vs 200+ per week using Uber).
H1 the car I was considering is fairly reasonable. 500 is a rough estimate all in. 280 car payment + 150 insurance + 70 in gas = 500 in a month.
