I am not a therapist, but I've been to enough of them to be considered a fellow traveler. Your last reply indicates things aren't as dire as your initial post. Good. There's still hope. Talk to your wife. Let her know how you feel about her and your daughter. If you need to bring up your past problems with alcohol and current battle against addiction, frame it in a positive way -- focus on her important role in keeping you strong. Do not flip the coin and say your life will fall apart without her. That sounds like you are unstable, and that's not the message you want to send. Remember that God never promised a life without obstacles, but keeps His promise to provide a path around any obstacle that life erects.
Any chance she'd agree to meet with a mediator? That's usually the least contentious way to go about it, and it costs way less money as well. Sorry, man. I've been there. If you need to up your meetings, do it. Protect your hard work at all costs.
I don’t think she is going to pull the trigger on pushing for a divorce. I’m not ready to do it either. I’m just trying to protect myself and understand a few factors… like how my alcoholism might be used against me. I just don’t want to be caught off guard if she surprises me and does start it.
Long winded way to say I don’t think mediation is right at this moment.
