I advise against going somewhere else. Earn the promotion at your current firm and then jump ship. From personal and also my colleagues experience

If you’re looking to jump and go from BDR to AE the only company I’ve ever seen hire a BDR for a closing position is Crowdstrike. Literally the only one, it’s very unique
I’ve only seen one person at my company turn into an AE from bdR I’ve been at the current company 1 year 4 months as a bdr might have to jump ship
I’m trying to do that now and looking at SMB AE positions. Any advice on how I can actually land the role for interviewing?

I’d stick with it. As long as you’re performing it’s more about building the network with sales management so when an opportunity pops up, you can pounce.
Keep in mind if you’ve never been an AE before and you jump ship you’ll have to do a role you’ve never done before with a product you don’t know how to sell.
Not saying don’t do it, just weigh your options.
