Definitely no. They pay you 50% of what they charge the agency. You are just one out of thousands they have in their database. Once they send your name over to an agency, you are contractually locked out of being hired at that agency on your own, because the agency is required to pay a sizable commission fee to Creative Circle in order to buy you out.
This is exactly what happened to me. I would never work with again. I learned my lesson. When you’re young, it can be tempting to do this, but it’s not just terrible pay, it’s a trap.
Hell NO. They are parasites! I wish freelancers would black ball these people. They are the WORST. They take almost half your hourly rate but act like they’re doing you favors. They’re not. They’re just ripping you off. For every hour you work, let’s say they’re billing the client at $75/hour, you get $40, they get $35. Every hour. Every day. It’s gross. Find your own clients and charge what you deserve.
If your not finding work CC will definitely help. But yeah ultimately not the best or only way to do it
If you have any other suggestions besides LinkedIn and applying through agency websites. Would love to hear, just haven’t seen many job postings at the moment.
Definitely beats starving, IMO. If you’ve got nothing else, might as well pick up some mid-senior level gig work through them. You can cut them out as the middleman in due time
Don’t love any staffing agencies, but do use creative circle in a pinch, fyi.
It should also be noted that if you read their postings closely, you can often spot the clients and chase the gigs yourself. So, at least sign up for their emails
I heard they are only good for getting discounted access to insurance. Is that true?
Unless something has changed the insurance isn’t meant to be your primary policy, it’s that bad
I’d say yes, to stay busy and practice selling yourself, so long as you know that they are a last, last, last resort type of place.
Only if you’re a Jr/just starting out. I did it when I was green and desperate and it kept me going (shit pay and all) in the lean times.
If they get you a job then interview was worth it.
Stay awSY
Lord, no
No.
