But generally, yes. The employer match is nice, but the point is to save for retirement early and often, then when the match kicks in, that's just a bonus

Also, based on the question I assume you are early on your career and are probably close to the lowest salary you will have, so go Roth 401k if you can.
You likely should be putting in way more.
As someone that contributed 0 from age 23-28, I would not recommend you do that. My wife has $300k more in her retirement accounts from consistently contributing from graduation to present.
12 years later mostly maxing contributions I have about $400k compared to her $700k.
