Op, pm is actually one of the preferred exits from consulting.. read the many old threads on thia very bowl.. and you dont “need” to code too.. But yes, you will have to have the right skills to land the role..
Why you would want to boomerang, though, is beyond me!

Key words “not many”, “often”. Yes, it is not a requirement, but definitely helps. If you have absolutely zero tech experience/background, you will be much less respected
