Anyone from EYP…I’m applying to “Strategy & Transactions Working Capital Consultant/Senior”. I have the experience, six sigma, PMP etc stated in the description. How can I proactively position myself to earn the interview? I’m afraid I might get auto rejected because I have way more than 2 years experience, but I know industry experience is weighted different. Appreciate any help, insight, or anyone willing to chat. Happy long weekend y’all.

McKinsey & Company Deloitte McKinsey & Company I am interviewing for intranet roles at both companies. could anyone share how those are set up internally (e.g., marketing / internal comms / IT - who does the content creation? back office or is it on the consultants?)? Thank you so much!

I appreciate the effort in this wfh state but yeah it ain’t it
Just decline?
At this point, I can’t help but wonder about people who still insist on scheduling virtual happy hours, & their perception of reality. Are they really unaware that everybody hates it and giving folks time back is actually more beneficial? Ffs
Part of the happy hour experience is leaving the work environment to decompress. If my work laptop is up, then wtf.....it's just an extension of work.

Forced “fun” is just as bad as work. Might as well give me some time back so that I can lie on my bed and contemplate my life after quitting.

There is always someone complaining, make sure you reflect if you bring any toxicity to your team.
M1, this is exactly right. I go out of my way to not bring any toxicity to the team. Team dynamics start at the top and vibe of the team often reflect that
If I can’t bill it, it ain’t happening.

Do you have any other suggestions for making our work/team engagement more enjoyable (other than reducing quantity of work as that’s a given)?
I’ve been in consulting for 6 years and I sorely miss the team environment we used to naturally cultivate by being together all the time. While I understand a happy hour might feel like another hour at your computer that you could be doing something else, we’re doing our best to bring in at least some of the team environment we used to have. I truly believe your team leads would absolutely be open to other suggestions if a happy hour isn’t doing it for you.
It is incredibly hard to keep teams engaged, make junior team members feel included, and create the close knit culture we used to have while being virtual, so we’re doing the best we can.
S1 if the intent behind a virtual happy hour is to illicit positive feelings, the activity often falls short & doesn’t accomplish the intent.
The focus should be on pushing back on clients and partners who have unreasonable expectations, billing all hours worked, & reporting bad leaders for any ethics violations. Team engagement will be low on any persons priority list if folks are suffering mentally and physically from poorly scoped projects & working poop hours. Asking them to put on a fake happy face to attend a virtual happy hour is exhausting and tone deaf.
Forced fun more often than not result in additional stress and negative emotions from folks who are already overworked, over videod, and could use that time to see to their own mental and physical health.

Have y’all tried skipping them? I’ve skipped every single virtual happy hour and no one has ever given me any trouble at all
I swear OP was on my virtual happy hour today 😂😂🥴
Let’s schedule 30min on Friday afternoon to have fun. You must have fun during that 30min period.
Not everyone dislikes their team. My company is back in the office but when we were all at home it was nice to talk with my team outside of work discussion. A more accurate version of your question: "is there anything worse than worse than a virtual happy hour with people you don't like?"
Sorry that you have such a difficult relationship with your team members. My team loves to catch up every now and then. It’s not possible every week, but when we do, it’s nice to catch up with things outside of work, play silly online games etc.
Just decline, don’t go.
I don’t mind the virtual HH just so long has its scheduled during working hours. Staying on past 5 is a hard pass.
They were fun a month into the pandemic. They stopped being fun last Summer.

Why are these still happening lmao
I like virtual happy hours! As a single guy who lives alone, it is so nice to just shoot the shit and have a drink with the team!
It’s probably because your team is nice 😅
