It seems like there are fewer remote roles available - even less than pre-COVID. Are companies really that interested in forcing people to work in-person?

One lesson businesses learned was not to post jobs as fully remote. My job isn't defined as remote, but I have no in office requirements. That said, the business can ask me to go in as they wish because i dont have a remote agreement. They also dont have to supply me with remote accommodations without an agreement, think monitors and etc.

Yes. WFH only works for a small number of jobs.

I think it is due to changing executive level mandates and the accommodation aspect of hiring remote workers.

It doesn’t help that companies are finding themselves in the news for hiring unknowingly North Korean citizens who use false identities to take remote jobs at US companies and remit salaries back to the DPRK. At my firm, there are roles that I know fully remote employees have that are advertised as hybrid. It doesn’t help that the job market is down which allows employers to be more selective.

Ok, I’m gonna say this. Schools should open. Now hear me out. My wife is a family doctor, she is working insane hours, she is treating covid patients, and there is a lot of days when she has to stay at the hospital without coming home. My neighbour works in a local grocery store, so he has been at work since the Day 1 of lockdown. So if you need medical help, or want to eat, it’s ok for those people to be at work, but their kids have to stay home? Cont’d >>

I’m trying to transfer departments at my company and I talked to the MD of the department i wanna transfer to, and told him working remotely is a requirement to me, and he said he’s not sure if that’s possible, and that would depend on HR and the hiring manager. I’m so tired of US companies hiring remote Canadian employees offering to pay a fraction of the price for the same role.

This is consistent across the majority of the tech companies. While I am looking to exit consulting, don’t want to be paid 50% of what my colleagues would be making across the border.

How often do you think you will be traveling in 2022 with COVID mostly behind us? In the final interview/negotiation stages with an agency focused on pharmaceutical marketing as an Account Manager. Offer states up to 30% travel (but was told 20% is more realistic). No further info given such as location of accounts I'd be working on or a baseline other AMs travel. Feels like a red flag. Not interested in much travel. Quarterly is manageable. Any insights from others in similar roles??

I would like to eventually hang a shingle as a tax lawyer, but need experience. TIA!

I work for a tech company that pays 100k tc plus 50,000 stock options. I have great work life balance, work 4 days per week on a 32 hour schedule plus it’s remote. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the compensation is on the lower end and just wanted to see if it’s in line with industry standards
