Personally I would ask to fly out before signing on.
You’re not shopping on amazon—you’re signing most of your waking hours over to this place. It’s hard to make such a huge commitment without seeing the agency/meeting the people in-person.
I did that with my current agency. Recruiter told me they wanted to offer and I said I couldn’t accept until I flew out.
It helped me during the negotiation as well, because it showed I valued myself and wasn’t willing to jump on just any offer.
If they want to hire you, they should be understanding about your desire to meet in person.
I’ve hired someone based on Skype interviews. Not weird at all. However if you’re feeling unsure, is it because of Skype? Or is it something else underlying?
Everyone I’ve met on the team seems great and have been really honest about the role/culture, just a big move to a new market and a place I’ve never seen are what have me thinking. Time to sleep on it I think
This happened to me in my current job, where I have been for a few years. Sometimes companies just move fast. Do you feel confident in the fit/company?
Same thing happened to me, they were just moving fast as it was 3 months into the partnership and they needed an AD ASAP. Been at my company for 3 years!
Cool, that’s what I figured - new client and moving fast. Thanks!
Yeah they seem great, just have never had it happen (and have always brought people out who were interviewing with us).
Not werid at all. Done it twice. If they can't fly you in Skyping is the next best thing.
