It's a delicate balance. Honestly, asking them questions about THEM and showing them that you listened is the best way to stand out and ensure a successful relationship. On the other hand, if you ask questions about yourself in relation to them from the get-go, it may seem like you're being a bit presumptuous.
Ice breakers? Learn about them. For example, how did you come to this company, how did you become xx, what are your preferences for communications, setting up meetings with you, interesting tidbit about them, future goals, etc.
Humanize them and learn how to make their life and yours easier. For example, I like a minimum of two days notice for meetings, as I like to prepare. Also, it's best to look at my calendar and plop it in based on my availability. Something truly urgent should be sent by email and then followed up with a MS Teams message within a few hours if I don't respond, or if questions are anticipated.
Yeah those are pretty basic, 101 type of things. Looking for something more personable that shows I care about them as humans not just employees
