Never forget about that 33% on cases you originate. Hustle and you'll make a LOT more than 165k/yr.
Bingo! This is where you make your money.
I’m on my third year in PI and I’m looking for an exit. It seems like it’s all empty promises.
a lot of people start slow first year in PI until you get up to speed on your own cases and begin settling them.
PI is competitive but it's all about working up the cases. Once you obtain more cases, you should be making more
Learn as much as you can and open your own practice eventually.
I honestly feel like the only thing holding me back is not having consistent referrals. If you're a rainmaker, any tips? Seems impossible without having ppl to send to chiros or other doctors. I feel like doctors want/solicit our clients but never have anything to return even if i did send something.
Work your meh cases hard to have consistent bonus $ coming in and in time you’ll originate referrals for the bigger ones.
Currently 3rd PI associate, first two years started slow on the grind on minor impact soft tissue cases. Now am able to be more directly involved with the clients and have built my “meh” cases to surgeries etc.
It all takes time!
I’m not originating a ton, I have some control over new clients into the firm that come from Google, and can direct.
Mostly getting business from word of mouth, chiro and docs are normally good for 2/3 new cases when you start a relationship and then it falls off the map.
Number one thing to ask about is caseload at law firm, but I guess they can lie about it, what state are you in? I can give you 150-200 cases in WA in 3-4 months, and you’ll be on a rotation of new cases with other attorneys
As starting out as a first year, I worked at a big tv commercial firm. I was making 70k base, 5% prelit and 10% lit. My case load was around 300+ cases in pre lit, and 40 cases in lit. I had made $110k in 10 months. I took it slow after the 8 months and landed at around $120k. Your case load seemed a lot lighter than mine so I would be skeptical about 165k a year. Based on that prelit / lit caseload , I would anticipate you would be around the $110k range
Yup 5% pre lit was nice, I had made some good money on the bonuses. Some of the attorneys were making most of their money from 30% of cases being brought in. The base was what set me back. I regret leaving that firm, I left because I thought the grass was greener and it was not.
