lol, how much does everyone have left over to put into savings after paying your monthly bills? I probably have an average of $0.03 each month 😔

0, but that's because I'm aggressively paying down credit card debt.

The good news is that I should only have low interest mortgage debt by the end of this year.

Having a spouse with relatively good income helps. We are able to save 54% of our take home pay. But we also don’t have kids and relatively cheap rent compared to housing costs.

Take a look at your bills, is there anywhere that is a want , that you don’t necessarily need and can live without?

After all expenses I have about $250 I put towards savings but it varies since I leave me a couple hundred dollars of spending money. Geez .03! Are you just not making enough or do you have a high maintenance life style?

Typically with my spouse working we are to save $7K which is one of our incomes. He recently got laid off so now probably $1K

This is why I do direct deposit to savings and my Roth IRA before I even get my paycheck.

I max out my Roth IRA and HSA, put 15% of my gross income into my Traditional 401(k), and I put $500 per paycheck (biweekly) in my savings.

Between my IRA, 401(k), savings, and HSA, I save a little over 35% of my gross income, then I have the rest after taxes and FICA are taken out to pay bills and enjoy a few indulgences.

Hi folks, I had a quick question around remote work. My office is in San Francisco but I worked remotely from NJ for clients on the WC. How should I answer the question, “did you earn income working remotely by providing the services in a different state than the state you originally engaged employment with it”? If it matters, I never set foot in CA.

This is gonna sound stupid, but I’m honest - I can’t do math. Calculating a tip is as advanced as I get. Thank god for excel formulas and a math savvy husband. At the end of the day, I pay all the bills (I know- but I’m more organized) and make double his salary, what low stress effort (on my limited math capacity brain) can I do to increase wealth?

I feel like I should be doing more with extra money to help us financially, but I’m scared of having to study stocks and understand the numbers. 😖

Plan is to purchase some time after 2 years or so. Primarily to save up for a larger down payment.

Here’s my plan of attack:
- $30K saved right now ($20K in IBonds and $10K cash)
- $90K saved by July 2023
-$130K saved by 2023 and target a $800K home
