Looking for a bit of insight/advice. I am currently a Senior Auditor making 88k in the DFW area. My firm is a small firm and besides hating the work I don’t have any cons with the actual firm/boss I work for. I don’t love Audit and I’ve known that for years but I don’t absolutely hate it either. I have been approved to take the CPA exam but haven’t set for any section. I honestly only was doing it because that’s the norm in public accounting. Idk if I don’t want to be a CPA or if I truly just

If it’s really audit that you hate and not necessarily accounting then you could try looking into accounting advisory. I can’t speak for other B4 accounting advisory groups but FAAS at EY has a ton of transfers from audit.

Don’t want to go through the process of doing all of that to become one. I don’t see myself doing this long term but also kind of stuck and feel like there isn’t anything else I could pivot into since audit is the only experience I have. Should I stick this out and get a CPA license or are there actually other opportunities to go into from accounting.

Has anyone ever posted a general marketing position? We have an open position on our marketing team but we are unsure what type of position to offer. We have a wide variety of needs but don’t necessarily need to have this future person have all these skills. For example we need someone with great copywriting skills and also need someone who is great at digital marketing. This person doesn’t necessarily need to have both skills but if they did great, but if only one, great too.

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)
