Layoff going on in Synechron ?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Op and D1, I wouldn't be so sure. The criteria for layoffs was simple and not everyone was a performance layoff. I was laid off for market reasons. S&O SC approved for promotion to M. Hit utilization target. Led and sold my project. 2 at Regional YE and 3 once ratings were finalized. The layoff was market based and the criteria I was told was, anyone that was up for promotion, who had a 3 or lower last year and a 3 or lower this year =layoff. I fell into that being up for promo (which was already approved from YE meetings), 3 last year, 3 this year (was dropped down from 2) . But to be honest I'd rather a layoff than a 4. 4s mean no bonus, prob no raise, and performance presentations all year. 🙄🔫
Also... What entails next steps in this case? My counselor has no idea since he does not know if I will be put in a performance improvement plan since this was not a performance issue!!
I got a 4 mix of util and 1 awful first project but am crushing it now with prd leadersip and new project role... Any hope for me?
OP, I don't think you need to worry about getting laid off - as you said, your PEs were solid and you've done decent PRD as well. Utilization is a double edged sword - sometimes we need to take roles we'd never want to do to keep utilization ticking and sometimes (rather always) the SL pipeline is slow. I'd think that the practice leaders are cognizant of that so just keep your head down and power through this year the best you can. Another imp aspect is working the political landscape as well so make sure you network with the right people in your office SL
Thanks Deloitte 1... M actively involved in key roles for recruitment with my school. I have also been helping to build out a new practice within digital. Yeah m hoping that it does not come to something that bad as well.
Yeah Deloitte 1. What I am hoping is that this will be as is, with us taking a beating on the bonus. It's unfortunate man. We probably have to explain this shitty rating if it's brought up in future staffing conversations and/or interviews with other firms.
But you re lap tech so this allmay not apply to you
You're in*
That's a detailed explanation and makes sense (gnarly, twisted sense). This was my first rating and definitely not my promotion year. Got so screwed because of utilization. And in no part due to lack of effort. I combed through my emails and collected around 150 mails that I sent out looking for opportunities and then finally one worked out after 4 months:(... Anyway I hope I get to power through just this year and then it's bye bye I guess
D3 that's bad. I don't particularly like the adjusting of ratings post consensus.
D3... Sorry for asking, but were you communicated the layoff decision during the same time as ratings came out or did they give you this decision at some random time after that?
Basically, did you get hints/signs that this would halpen
I think I know OP
