My 19-year-old daughter wants to try delivering for DoorDash, is this a safe gig for her to do alone in Atlanta?

The minor income she might make is offset by the increase in car insurance and concerns for her safety. I'd suggest she get a job in a set location, like a retail job. We all did that at some point in our lives and it is both safer and guaranteed money.

THIS is the answer.

Don’t do it. I did DoorDash when I was 18-19 also for 4 months right before college and for a few weeks after freshman year in the summer. Decent money and it’s fun.
But it can be annoying waiting around for orders and time could be used better tbh.
Pay is really not good. I use Uber a lot for work in Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Charlotte, Dallas,
and drivers all say pay is crap and DoorDash Uber eats is even a tad bit worse.

Costs are high as Atlanta insurance rates have gone up, miles on cars adds up a lot in Atlanta for deliveries, one boot, ticket, or tow will set her back months of income and be annoying. Wear and tear and gas as well…

Safety is a big deal. I’m 25M but Atlanta has kidnappings, let’s not pretend it doesn’t. Lots of car accidents and fender benders with sketchy people, homeless as well may approach her in sketchy areas

like

Yes as long as she only does it during the day. Be vigilant and always lock your doors even if you’re away from your car for a few seconds

Oh, I don't know. I think it would depend heavily on which neighborhoods she is delivering in. And I don't think delivering foods to people's homes at night is particularly all that safe in most of the city. Delivering to business or heavily populate areas might be okay but I don't know how much control she would have over that.

Wouldn’t recommend during the night

I agree with EY 1 above. I really don't think I would allow my daughter to do this but then again she is still a minor. Your daughter is an adult so if she was going to do it I would say to be careful and definitely only do this during the day.

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Just taking the opportunity to get current. Sober 3 years and 10 months. This past couple weeks have been stressful and my mind slipped into fantasizing about my drug of choice. Although I have neglected my morning practice this week, I'm practicing self compassion with positive self talk.

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

Everyone who I want to like me or to hangout with doesn’t respond to my texts or tells me they are too busy. This weekend I reached out to 12 people to see if they wanted to grab coffee or a drink or go for a walk. The number of people who just didn’t respond astounded me. I ended up eating dinner in bed by myself and getting brunch on my own.

The only people who reach out to me, I don’t want to hangout with. I don’t have the same interests as them and have to try really hard… cont below

We want to try and fix it, but I also met someone new (not sure if she would even want me) and wondering if it’s worth fixing it (since we are trying/running/avoiding it for years) - just worried about the kids…any advice

My experience at Google made her interested in joining the company, but we never really acted on it.
Could she be a good fit?
If so which areas/orgs?
