My boss recently set a new rule that requires us to email him once on the weekend. It’s a small thing that doesn’t take much time or effort but it bugs me that I am being required to do anything work related on what should be my down time. Is it worth trying to address it?

Why would he require you and the team to email him once on a weekend. I would set up and automatic email for 12:00 AM every Saturday. Seriously, corporate America needs to slow their roll.

like

He wants summaries of the work we did the week prior even though he requests updates by email during the week

If you aren’t required to work on the weekend this makes no sense. Just know this isn’t normal

like

My boss asked me to drop him off a coffee on the weekends. Just Saturday, sometime between 8-830 am. If that sounds silly, so does your boss’s new rule.

like

Unless your getting paid I think it’s weird. Can you set up a delayed delivery email that set to deliver on that date? Set it for 3 am. Lol

likefunny

Lol hopefully he sleeps with his notifications on🤣

If he requires you to email him out of normal office hours he'd better pay you! how ridiculous

like

On Friday evening b4 logging off, prepare status and set for auto send 1st thing Sat am. Now, there’s away to tell that the email was rescheduled btw, but this meets the parameters. Sent on weekend, current status update.

like

Why does he want you to email…?

He wants us to tell him the work we did the week prior

funny

I’ve been rebelling and sending it on Monday mornings the last few weeks. He hasn’t said anything so far…

And yes, I am actively applying for work 🤣

Maybe the weekend emails make up for your boss feeling lonely outside of work.

Hi. People Manager here. I've been one for 12 years now and I encourage my team to not be "yes" people. At this time, it feels like my manager wants me and my team to be yes people for her. How do I deal with this? I've never been a yes person and I don't preach this to my reports. I don't know what to do. Help?

When and how do you push back on people senior to you? Fifth year dealing with supersenior associate (11th year) who completely lacks good judgment & common sense. I offered to send myself but apparently that wouldn’t work (presumably because it would be efficient & make sense.) At what point (and how) do I Just Say No?
