My company just rolled out “Team Building Thursdays,” which means an hour every week are now blocked off for activities like trivia. Don’t get me wrong, I see the value of team bonding, but with 15 accounts to manage and deadlines breathing down my neck, it’s hard not to feel resentful. I spend the entire session thinking about emails piling up. Has anyone else dealt with this? Do these activities actually help? How do you balance participation without falling behind?

I was recently let go by a Big 4 and I interviewed at Mid-size. I didn’t tell them I was let go and was hired and now working here. Recently realized, the partner I work with and my ex-firm practice partners are good friends. Should I communicate to my ex-firm partner not to share this with my current firm partner when they meet??? Or am I thinking it too much?

Everyone on my team is leaving the firm. The PPMD who hired me left the firm before my start date, now two seniors have left in the last 2 months. My team will be down to <3 with no manager/SM/PPMD. A Manager/PPMD from a diff. City is going taking our “office” over, so I’ll be the random staff that lives out of state but reports to them. What would you do?

I worked at a smaller consulting firm about 12yrs ago. And the partner I was supporting had my dream business job. He would be in meetings from 7:30am until 6pm, with an hr for lunch. Also he turned off his blackberry at 6pm to spend time with his kids And all of the content was done by me and all he did was go to meetings and tell people his opinion. Never did one slide or worked in one excel file. I need a job like that. Lol

I have a experienced team member who dissappears for hours during the day, needs me to go over the same directions 2-3x, and does not take initiative to try to fix road blocks.

Is 7 weeks too early to start thinking I may have made a huge mistake in switching to my current gig?
