I'm not an AA person, so no sponsor here. I do have an amazing sober coach that I zoom with twice a week and text with daily and also a therapist that I see weekly. Works well for me.
I have God
I am 71/2 years clean and I found that having a routine greatly helped me stay clean. The best person who kept me clean is a friend of mine who has a child and been there for me threw it all has helped me a lot
Therapist, psychiatrist, wife, and mom. My psychiatrist is the one who ultimately was like “you need help/substance abuse counseling” but my wife and mom had been asking me to get sober for a while already. I am planning to get a sponsor though.
Having a higher power is the big one, this is where the real change comes from, in my experience. It’s perfectly acceptable to have mentors in the AA program, also. I just let my sponsor know that I was working alongside someone that had experience in something I needed help with at the time.
Bowl Leader
I have a lot of sober friends who support me in my recovery. However, I believe that only I can hold myself accountable. That word, “accountable”, suggests that my will power is involved, or some other human’s desires for me are involved. My will power gets me to a meeting, but it’s my Higher Power that keeps me sober.
