Do not disclose if you are not asking for accommodations. ADHD means different things for different people. You won't be giving them enough information just by saying you have it.
If you are asking for accommodations, be specific about this being related to a medical issue (you do not have to state which). If you ask for formal accommodations, be sure that the agreement is documented in writing. Be specific about what you need, how you will communicate the need, how you will get work covered, etc.
Most people don't realize that you can be proactive about modifying your work to your preferred work styles without formalizing or disclosing anything. It's worth it to also try that route.
I was able to secure a flexible schedule on my project simply because "I'm a morning person, and I like to take frequent breaks". I was able to get more explicit instructions when I said "ambiguity in expectations and deadlines makes it hard for me to adequately prioritize my work"
Not everything needs to be formal, and definitely there's no need to share diagnoses with colleagues.
Very similar here, I try to phrase things in terms of impact on performance instead of personal preference. As soon as possible on a new project, I have an “I perform my best when…” conversation with other team members as a way to get to know everyone.
There have been people that I have disclosed to and more than a few have reciprocated. Yes, it’s risky but I think there are more of us than we realize and the reward of making those genuine connections has been worth it so far.
It's a tough call. Disclosing ADHD might lead to understanding, but also misconceptions. Consider your workplace culture and legal rights. You're awesome either way, prioritize what's best for you! 🧠👩💼
Never disclose. You should not receive any accommodations.
ADHD symptoms are literally the antithesis of what is demanded from people in the workplace, especially at individual contributor levels.
This is one you have to quietly manage with medication, lifestyle and your own systems, or otherwise choose a job better suited to your strengths and weaknesses.
I will never disclose.
Have you considered what accommodations you want? Many things can be accomplished through changing behaviours and conditioning others around you to certain ways of working that can help you to be successful. You may find that this is just as helpful as disclosing.
It didn't do me any good. Just put a target on my back.
I think sometimes it’s helpful to disclose because then it helps your managers understand what’s going on and the team can support on days where you may not be functioning your best. I don’t know if that would be considered accommodations though.

A lot of the Pros and Cons will depend on your location (i.e. disability protection laws in place), your employer (is HR competent and sympathetic), and your own awareness of what you need in terms of accommodations.
If you disclose your condition, make sure to get everything in writing, follow all existing company procedures, and document every piece of correspondence. Be prepared for push back or negative consequences down the line.
