Same A3... definitely don’t feel behind. Probably I thought I was ahead... then I read this thread haha. Though, I suppose “ahead” is very relative. To our peers on FB, we may seem in line, but truly against our peers in the world, we are likely far ahead
Started investing since 24 making 40k a year to 160k
Net value is 1.6 million
Dual income family, 29, 440k retirement and cash, 100k home equity.
$300k total... Not a homeowner I'm 32 and I feel I'm behind the curve. :(
D2 I don’t think you’re behind at all!
21 - 10K. 5.2 K checking, 2.6 K stocks, 2.2 K crypto. 0 in 401/IRA
I was making 65k - 16k limit back then = 49k after tax was like 35k - 5k Roth ira - 1100 month rent w roommates = ~1400/month budget and of that tried to invest ~200-400 monthly. 1k a month for a 22 year old in NYC did not really feel like a tight squeeze.
23, Associate, 50k cash, no debt, single
Solid numbers for everyone. I always thought I was ahead of the curve not on par or behind. What was your trick? I would be higher if wedding/engagement ring costs didn't get in the way. :/
32.
$120k (50k cash, 30K Roth, 10k IRA, 40K 401k)
No homes, no loans.
Feeling kind of behind 😢
I freely admit mine is luck. Joined consulting in 2007 and was able to put a good portion into markets every year because of LCOL area. After that it’s just the best bull market of the last 100 years that I rode up. Just luck in timing.
29, senior associate
$432k, with $85k in Roth, $110k traditional, rest in checking, savings, brokerage, and HSA
Could also add ~$100k in 🏡 and ~$15k in 🚗 equity
Traditional balance = my current traditional 401k + my traditional rollover IRA from previous 401k
Roth balance = 2 Roth IRAs, I’m married
We may have not have max contributions the first year or so of working, but we have since then and then the growth of course
28, manager, $185k total. $125k 401k, $60k invested
Is this joint savings including your spouse’s?
Yes. Our combined income is ~$150k.
Yes, it’s a big factor in our position, but there are also plenty of individuals who have base salaries that equal/surpass our combined salaries. Yet those individuals find themselves behind us due to unfortunate circumstances or poor choices.
I attribute most of our wealth to living modestly...for example, spouse plans on driving their 2006 vehicle until it dies.
40 - 60k retirement, 50k stocks, 20k saving/checking! Home value 400k, remaining mortgage 150k. Man I m way behind everything!
Just turned 27. $107K across 401K, Roth, and LI annuities. Also own two condos and an investment property. I don't feel behind, but I also don't feel ahead, so I'm trying to max my 401K this year
29. 300k. Includes 90k equity in condo
A3 - How much equity in the condo? If significant, how could one save that much in such little time?
It's NOT significant. I graduated when I was 23, so had been dumping money into the market for 3 years. Realized early last year that I should diversify a bit, and started buying property. I acquired all 3 last year, so my equity is essentially what I put into them. Probably ~$60K right now.
