Resume/job seeking tips for someone looking to transition into tech sales as a SDR/BDR?

I’d go all stats. Even if you don’t have previous selling experience. I worked at a paint factory before my current sales gig and something I wrote on my resume “completed over 130% of my monthly projects” etc. etc. All they really want to know is that you are gritty, accountable, and coachable, so use the resume to tell that story about yourself and have real life scenarios that back that up when you are interviewing. Also mass apply to jobs by finding them on LinkedIn, CompGauge, G2, and RepVue then once you get the first interview is when you can actually start deciding if you like the product. That’s just what I did/my two cents

@SDR1 can i get that reddit info too?

What is your current experience?

3 years digital ops, product analytics, content management

I’m still a pretty junior lawyer and am up against someone with about 2 decades of experience. This person has been using their seniority to make personal remarks and to try and bully me into messing up my case. What’s the best thing for me to do here? I’m trying my best not to stoop to his level because I don’t want to and think that it would just come across as being ‘disrespectful’ towards a senior

Any Customer Success Managers in here? How much are y’all making on average in this role? Is it solely base? Or is there commission involved? What are some tips you’d give to someone who’s contemplating switching to that aspect of tech?

I currently work for Chubb and have been for the last 8 months. Prior to Chubb I worked for Farmers for about 4 years. If you have any questions about Chubb feel free to ask.

Also, if you do work for Chubb I would like to see title and salaries. Chubb

Is there ever a scenario where it would be beneficial to the employee to enter into an arbitration agreement with your employer (mutually consent to resolve by arbitration all claims or controversies, past present or future that the company may have against you or you against the company/company's employees)? I can't see any real benefit as an employee to waive my rights.Context: received an offer in which there is a voluntary arbitration agreement. No adverse employment action if I opt out. TIA

Imagine all the people…

Hey mates,
Been under the radar recently due to life stuff. But taking this soapbox to remind everyone that you don't have to be 100% with your diet and exercise every single day. Everyone has off days, and that's ok. Looking after your mental AND physical health is important.

So just a reminder to love yourself and to reach out if you need support!

After getting a referral submitted, should I be expecting an email with a link soon? If so, how long does that take? This is for BCG and Bain

I'm considering pivoting to copywriting because that's the part of my role I'm best at -- a lot of the account management stuff is draining, but I can whip out social and marketing copy quickly & I enjoy it. Wondering if anyone has insight / leads on making the jump from accounts to the copy side when applying for jobs? 5 YOE, 3 in-agency with a mix of automotive and pharma + a side gig as a published author with muliple books (hoping that'll help on the creative / copy end?) Thank you!

Additional Posts in Business Development Reps (BDRs and SDRs)

I have a total of 4 years sales experience, 1 year in life insurance sales and 3 in retail banking (lending, investment referrals, merchant services referrals).

I did well in banking, but incentive plan has suffered tremendously, so I’m looking to jump into tech sales where I could be more compensated for the work.

Anyone in tech sales willing to chat? ☕️

Hello everyone, what sort of certifications will help to enhance Skills related to Tech sales ? Specifically for BDR roles . Answers will be highly appreciated.

BDRs: Can I get some honest reviews and experiences from your time as a BDR? I’m making the pivot from 5 years in the sports industry (plus 2 years exp of direct sales at Spectrum). Just received an offer from Zoom ($21 an hour base. Seems low imo?) Negotiating this week and want to see if it’s worth it. Thanks everyone

Just wondering, how many qualified leads is your weekly quota as an Sdr/bdr?

Currently a BDR looking to transition out of sales completely into some sort of more technical role or coding role. Anyone have any suggestions or doing the same?

If you were a staffing agency and recruitment firm owner like myself, how would you get new clients business?

Resources for an enterprise BDR?

Hello All,

I recently got a job working as a BDR for an enterprise rep. We sell a SaaS product for other tech companies. It is a new realm for me as I have been primarily an AE throughout my career.

What resources are out there to help me learn how to work these accounts (500+ person companies)? looking for tips on everything from writing email cadences, sending video messages, and even qualifying leads during discovery calls.

Thanks for the help!

Folks, my company is hiring 2-3 BDRs in North America. These are remote positions. Please DM me if you would like the link to the job description.

Seems accurate 😊

What are your financial and career goals as a BDR/SDR?

When I don’t get answer on the phone my second option is to go to make a personalized 20-30 second video, and I end up landing interviews with top decision makers, does anyone else use video as part of their outreach? Would you attend a meeting with other like minded SDR/BDRs to showcase your skills and to see how other people use video to prospect, I’m thinking about doing a small webinar free of charge. What does the community think?

I have 4 months experience as a BDR but looking for a new role as the company i work for has went into liquidation. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can find good sales roles that do not just involve cold calling.

What’s your number one prospecting tip? 💰📞

How would you respond to “Send me an email” while making a cold call?

Is it possible for someone without a degree or tech experience to get a fully remote entry level SDR or BDR role? If so, how? My sister’s boyfriend was fairly successful at a call center a few years ago but has only worked low wage jobs since. Any steady job would be a step up. My current employer wants 2+ YOE in a “professional environment” for the BDR role, which would likely be a barrier even with a referral.

Are there any resources you found helpful in improving your skills as a BDR, specifically around drafting compelling emails? Looking to refresh some language and struggling to find resources that aren't gimicky. Any advice appreciated.

Currently an event coordinator for a company and looking to move into either another event coordinator role or into an SDR or BDR role. Does anyone know of any opportunities?

Alright everyone, if your company is hiring let’s get that referral link or if you know a coming is hiring post it while the market is hot 🔥 happy end of Q3! 🚀

Do you guys know of any tech companies hiring SDR/BDR roles remote?

Hey everyone! Want to hear your thoughts on having to complete a sales test as last stage before an offer? They said it’s 7 general sales questions… no prior info needed. Any thoughts or advice? Is this normal?
