Like you’re all at lunch talking shit and someone says how you’d go out and rage and he comes to your feminism induced, societally programed defense, and says “nah, OPs a good girl”?
Or,
You finish your slide and show him and he gives you a good game pat on the ass and says (in his creepiest “we’re talking about your job here” voice), “that’s a good girl”?
Actually though, what is the context? I'm thinking about a situation where somebody is like, "have you worked with Jim before, how us he?", "Oh he's a good guy, but not a very hard worker". Wouldn't good girl be the equivalent here?
My take is she is trying to act alpha
Female 🐠 here.
Ladies, can we please stop de-legitimizing the feminist movement with petty BS like this post.
There are bigger issues to be fought for.
"Good girl" could easily have been a "good job, girl", which you'd likely (or IMO should be) alright with.
All this being said, if it truly bothers you then be professional/the bigger person and bring it up 1:1 with her first, before taking it to HR.
Channel your inner Charlize Theron and tell him - “Call me good girl - one more time”. And if he does, kick his ass
I’d done well on a deliverable and the SM, also a woman, called me a good girl in front of my managers, lead, and analysts...
That is just.....sad
Establish her dominance
Offensive and Sexism in the works
Kick him in his u know what!
Yeah, OP, in that context I would say that's very inappropriate.
@A2, I think I provided a very good context of when it would be appropriate.
I work with a partner who calls me ‘kiddo’ regularly. Not exactly empowering

Gal is the female equivalent of guy. I had to think about this one for a bit, and the fact that it’s not intuitive is really sad
Good guy is acceptable good girl is not. Just the way society is. Deal with it.
It's woman towards woman that changes everything
I def thought SM was a dude from the original post. That was a good plot twist! You should start calling your SM a good girl too.
It's weird coz...
I'd say he's a good guy but never that he's a good boy.
Guys and girls vs. Boys and girls.
There is no equivalent to guy for women and she might just be struggling with that.
She’s being disrespectful and propagating sexism. Whether a man or woman, still tell her the same thing... I don’t appreciate it, and how would you feel if I told you you were being a “good girl”?
Reminder to all the men in this thread that “dude” and “guy” are not synonyms of “girl.” The masculinely gendered version of “good girl” is “good boy.”
