PwC has provisionally cleared me to join the firm first week of Jan. What does this mean? Can I start working with them even if the background check is still running in parallel? Can I quit my current job and expect everything to be cool? They said it's taking them longer to verify education and previous employment. Both of which are international.

I look forward to the holidays to stay at home and enjoy my time with my loved ones
I always love when there is nobody in the office. I get the most work done during the holidays because there is nobody in the office stopping by every five minutes to ask me a question. I love this time of year haha.
You just made an argument for WFH
My office was closed so I became remote. However, the job is not remote, and so it has become a balancing act of working from home and the expectation to travel to customer locations, which seems to be expected more because I'm "supposed to be in office" as if that has any bearing on whether or not I have to fly across the country 3 times a month.
I agree. I worked Christmas day and got so much work done due to not being pinged for this and that all day long. I've always lived in places that get very busy during the holidays, so I have no interest in going out on holidays, and I don't have a family so there's no one to hang out with.
I prefer to save my days off during random off times in the year when the prices to travel are cheaper and there are fewer crowds to make it more enjoyable.
Some people in my office took yesterday and today off, but it feels like such a waste of PTO to me. It's so chill and nothing gets done besides last minute holiday planning.
