The time has come for me to ask for my discharge, my body and mind can't take it anymore, I have 17 years in service and I feel that I have given all of myself to the army, I have a restaurant and it is time to retire from my military life, in spite of feeling all that I feel a little bad because I feel that I am betraying my country, can you help me?

It’s never wrong to take care of yourself. No need to apologize for anything. Just wish you could past 20 in order to get paid back for the rest of your life with the security of a retirement check since you have sacrificed so much for so long.

like

You are not betraying your country. You have put in your time and served your country. Your mental and physical health is important and you need to focus on that at this point. Thank you for your service. Time to focus on you and your health!

You don't need to feel bad about taking care of yourself. You've done more for the country and for the people you've led and influenced than many people will in their entire lifetime. It may not feel like it, but we owe YOU. Enjoy your separation.

Remember, you can continue your service through veterans charities and non profits. Just because you're not in the uniform doesn't mean you can't serve.

Don't look at it that way. Your body, health and well-being are equally important. You've done enough, OP.

You are not. Don't think about it that way, OP. You have your own reason and we respect that.

By flexible I mean in terms of moving between positions, companies and technologies.

I've done both and am currently doing salesforce development but don't want to get pigeonholed.

Friend introduced me to a poc at a role I’d potentially be interested in, but background check would take 6-12 months. Just got promotion at current firm and feeling content to stay. I’d be interested in the other company in the near future, ie 1-2 years.

If I didn’t directly know the person, I’d interview to see how I do, but I don’t want to waste this person’s time for the time being. What would you do?

Why are you even organizing it? You think people would come from far places just for lunch?
