I really think that the insurance policy given by mediassist is way more expensive for parental insurance, means who will pay for 50k+ premium and that too for large copay, I guess the leadership team should intervene here....Parental insurance is really important for any employee and most of the time is only needed.
Recently I used parental insurance and found that the insurance company only paid for 50% of the total bill.

Welcome to Canada - where the healthcare is plenty. You will be covered with our company plan. Just make sure when you sign up to opt for the supplementary coverage. It’s pretty straight forward.

This! For context OP there’s a basic and a supplemental plan you can choose from at Deloitte. Supplemental coverage costs about $17 per paycheque for health and $8 for dental.
You won’t really need “health” insurance the same way as you do in the US. However, Deloitte and other employees in Canada usually will offer dental coverage and other health insurance to cover prescription drugs, counselling etc. Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) the government funded insurance plan will cover most medical services (Surgery / Walk-in etc) , however I believe there is a 3 month waiting period before you can receive once you move to Ontario.
Yes. Its applicable for new PR holders
I have a follow up on this guys - will the firm’s insurance cover everything until the OHIP kicks in?
Thanks D3!
