Typically, co-ops are managed by a Board of Members who establishes a set of rules and regulations. Each co-op management has it owns rules, so is difficult to answer that unique question. It would be a matter of the coop you are interested in. Find that out with their Board of Members if you can live with more family members. I asume they would have a household limit.

Co-ops in the city can have significant restrictions on occupants, full vs part time use, parental gifts for purchase, etc. You need to find a property that aligns with your intended use. I wouldn’t mess around with skirting co-op rules as the down side outweighs the positives
