Try to apply to smaller companies if you want to stay in consulting. You’ll get paid better and can always move back to shit4

Pay cut vs no job 🤷🏻‍♀️

like

Sorry to hear that

like

Remember employers in some states can't ask you for your current comp and can always check your dates of employment. So taking a small pay cut might not be the end of the world for the right role. You can recover in the future and always optimizing for comp can hurt in the long run.

Protiviti in Chicago is always looking and pays more . W/L balance is amazing too

like

why?

Didn’t make plan ...

Why were you laid off? What group?

What is redline?

Ey2 - redline associates - search firm.

Did they give you a heads up or a extended period to make numbers?

Protiviti doesn’t pay much and bonuses are low.

One of the worst double standards in corporate america.

Companies especially startups expect you to not keep interviewing when you accept a job offer. “It can deteroriate your brand.”

But companies would replace you in a heartbeat for almost any reason. Including interviewing a candidate who will replace you (you will be fired as soon as they find a person).

So companies can fuck with the little guys but we can’t look for our best interest?

I’ve been laid off twice in my career but I’m not mad at 11000 people who no longer have jobs just cause they got decent severance while I got a week on my way out. Facebook is hot garbage but I’m pretty sure 0 out of the 11000 were making those decisions. So why are you upset about it? Urgh. Y’all are weird.

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

Do I tell her my timeline is now a month, or is telling them I'm getting fired going to tank my chances of getting the job?

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Hello all,

I'm a PA in the PNW working for a private group staffing ED's in several hospitals. Recently the group has asked the PA's to take on a couple new roles (triaging and rapid track from triage i.e. straightforward ESI 4, 5). With these changes the PA's are considering asking for increased pay in the form of an addition of a COLA (cost of living adjustment) to our normal salary. Was wondering if any other PA's in the ED have these in their contracts and at what rate.

-Thanks
