Congrats! Please don’t hesitate to share more as time goes on, it would be great to hear more about the reality of retirement from the folks in our community who make the decision to retire early.
Yes! And would love to hear about any life style creep or un expected expenses that spring up along the way.
Anxiety takes about 6 months to fade away. Hold on to those physical activity hobbies, they can carry you much further in your later years than you think. I’m about much older than you and cycle 150 miles per week and do strength training. One of my cycling buddies is 77 and he rides more than I do.
Sir please
Congrats!!
Congratulations! That's huge. What kind of advice do you have for those of us who are still early in the journey?
We never made crazy high salaries. Just prioritized spending on what we value (travel, outdoors activities) and saving the rest. Sometimes it felt like sacrificing. For example, we like to cook and budgeted only $60-$100 on eating out each week. That meant that sometimes we were turning down invites to expensive dinners with friends because it wasn’t part of the plan.
Congrats!
Well done, OP. I'm headed the same way. I'll make it there in my 50s.
Congrats!!
Amazing! Tell me how you and your partner combine to have less than $80k of annual spend in a HCOL. I get the mortgage is paid, but you still have house related costs (property taxes, insurance, maybe HOAs or maintenance). Are your cars paid off? What’s been your annual travel budget? Would love to hear how you guys do it.
Our property taxes are very low ($300/month). We do have HOA dues ($400/month). We are also both very handy and do most house projects ourselves. We own both of our cars. Home and auto insurance is about $2500 annually. We are savvy grocery shoppers and love to cook at home. We eat out 1 meal each week and treat ourselves to coffee 1-2 times per week (I cannot emphasize enough how much people spend on eating out). We are estimating $1600/month for health insurance, our credit card bills are about $3000/month. That leaves us ~$15k for travel, concerts and shows. We also spend a ton of time maximizing credit card points and using the offers to our advantage. It takes a lot of work and dedication to keep expenses so low 😂
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Absolutely amazing!!!! As you can see, so many of us share your joy!!! Please be sure to celebrate this accomplishment! Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your retirement, so, what is the plan for the next phase? I mean, post retirement phase.
I will ask you two questions: What do you do, and how do you do it?
Let me hold somethi’ 😂😂

Curious what options you chose for healthcare. Please share as everything I have seen seems really costly.

Hello, I am actually new here and I am a professional caregiver, seeking for a job.
It would be great to hear more from you who have experienced enough on this App. Thank you
Anxiety? Retiring with millions? Try retiring with $200k, then you would know what anxiety is about.

You may be misunderstanding the purpose of this bowl, which is achieving financial independence and/or retiring early.
Comments like this aren’t relevant or productive. Nor is the purpose of this post to validate or invalidate anyone’s anxiety.
Congrats!
What age are you?
41
Do you have kids?
No we don’t. That definitely enabled us to reach our goal sooner.
CONGRATS!
The money is for both of you, right?
Partner also retired?
That’s correct. My partner retired last year.
