Congrats! Please don’t hesitate to share more as time goes on, it would be great to hear more about the reality of retirement from the folks in our community who make the decision to retire early.
Yes! And would love to hear about any life style creep or un expected expenses that spring up along the way.
Anxiety takes about 6 months to fade away. Hold on to those physical activity hobbies, they can carry you much further in your later years than you think. I’m about much older than you and cycle 150 miles per week and do strength training. One of my cycling buddies is 77 and he rides more than I do.
Sir please

Congrats! Please do share how you’re planning to spend your time as am always interested to hear what ppl do post-FIRE
We live in an outdoorsy place, so lots of working out, biking, etc. Excited to cook healthy meals and prioritize reading. I’ve been looking into art classes the past few days as an activity that will allow me to have some routine but also rest my body!
congrats! roughly same savings and NW but no house so I’m sticking w/ it a bit more. Is the house 1.1M now?
for me it’s just cuz I’m single and don’t the extra space, house needs more maintenance, been there done that
What are your thoughts on the outsized returns from the market this year? I think many of us are seeing our 'number' get closer and closer, but it feels artificially inflated.
I agree. The market has performed exceptionally well, but a slight pullback after such a strong rally is not surprising. Valuations in some sectors appear overvalued, and uncertainty surrounding inflation, interest rates, or policy could easily trigger profit-taking
Doesn’t seem like you have allocated enough $$ for travel. We have $25k budgeted for it which works most years. we have been averaging 135 travel days a year while we are in the go-go phase of retirement.
Are you in California
I feel you, the numbers are almost identical, but 58. Anymore, this feels early with others I speak with. In any case, putting together the home project lists and bucket list, mixing in some work and play so it doesn't feel weird
I totally agree. If you can manage your work and personal life well, that's a good situation. So what kind of retirement life do you envision?
I love working ... I couldn't imagine retiring. I know way too many people that retired and only thing they have to look forward to is what they are making for dinner that evening. Retiring is not for everyone.
Please message me, I’d like to discuss about retirement and life haha
Congrats on your ability to keep annual spend to less than 80K in a HCOL area.
Congrats. What are you doing for healthcare insurance? And can you share approximately what you are spending on it? Additionally, I recommend exploring regular volunteer opportunities in areas you are passionate about.
Learn tp play bridge
Volunteer with young people: it'll keep you young and give some purpose/structure to your days (in between all the work outs)
Congratulations - well done. Curious, what do you do for medical insurance? That seems to be one of the biggest challenges/expenses when considering retirement.
Hello, it seems that you have some knowledge about medical insurance. Can I learn some experience from you?
Congrats!! What is NW?
Net Worth, if I understand correctly
Congratulations, Enjoy!
Document your retired life online… digital seems to be the way to go these days! You can inspire more people and even make money eventually as a consultant!!
If you are "worn out" you should discuss with your PCP. 40s is too young for that (speaking as an RN). Non-active hobbies have their place, but when you stop moving you'll find you've stopped & it's much harder to "re-start" - if you don't use it you lose it
Thanks for the insight! I really do appreciate it. I should clarify that I sometimes get worn out doing multiple physical activities each day. I’ve always been extremely active. My go to was the gym plus a walk every weekday, and then multiple physical activities each day on the weekends. Mostly because I’m in to so many things and wanted to fit them all in. Now that I’m able to do that 7 days/week, it will probably be too much. In the past 4 days I’ve gone to 2 HIIT classes, did a 12 mile mountain bike ride, played tennis twice and weight trained twice. Who know, maybe I’ll find that level of activity to be sustainable!
2.3 million just doesn’t seem like enough to retire on in your early 40’s…..
Okay
Congratulations!!
Good for you both! Enjoy... :)
But what are you going to do when you're 60 and out of money
congrats. This is always a goal.
