FP&A looks lame. Im chasing money and a position that doesn't make me want to shoot myself

like

It varies. 'Financial Analyst' is one of those broad job titles that don't actually tell you much, and won't be the same from one to the next -- even within the same company. To find out job specifics, career progression, areas of expertise, etc, you'll have to assess that for the individual positions you're looking at.

like

U can go into FP&A..

Well in that case just save yourself time and shoot yourself now. Nothing like that exists in this world.

I’m currently a tax accountant with 5 YOE. I want to move into a business analyst role I’ve applied for entry level positions (competition is wild) and willing to get certs. I have great hard and soft skills that should transfer pretty well. Any advice on getting the ball rolling? Should I get a mentor? I’ve seen a lot of layoffs too which kind of makes me wonder if it’s worth it.

Hi guys, I’m debating switching careers. I’m currently a mortgage loan officer but I’m very interested in SE. My degree is in finance. There’s a coding bootcamp near me called Boca Code that’s supposed to be top notch. I’m curious for feedback on 1. Are coding bootcamps actually a way into the industry like they’re marketed? And 2. What is a realistic starting salary for entry level SE? I’ve read and been told 90k, but that seems high.

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!
