What is your area of expertise and did you have to make changes when you had children? Like, did you start practicing one area of law but switch to another after having kids because the case load was easier to manage?

Anyone else juggling having kids at home during the winter break and trying to work from home around your SO (who is also working from home). The holidays are always SO hectic at my place and I'm feeling like a failure, my mother was a perfect housewife and I'm far from it lol. Other parents struggling with this?

SIL and BIL told us excitedly last weekend that she was pregnant (had literally just found out, so barely four weeks). This week she tells us she’s not pregnant anymore :(. They did not seem super torn up about it and were very practical about it. We said how sorry we were, etc etc. should I do anything else? Should I not mention it again unless they do?

I've got some friends who work remote jobs, and every day I grow more jealous of them during my one-hour commute.

My wife is incredibly stressed out and unhappy in her career. It’s been affecting our marriage significantly. I just had a conversation with her where I asked her to stay home and I said I’ll fully support her. It seems like she took it well.

My son and daughter-in-law are buying a house for their future family and I'm trying to convince them a formal dining room looks better and makes things less chaotic in the kitchen, especially with kids. Am I out of touch? Or is it still important?

My dad who lives in Asia just announced that he had a medical issue. I’m starting to enter the age where I’m going to take care of him financially. It’s a $2,000 hospital bill which in the US is nothing compared to what it represents there (which he can’t afford). He’s going to be fine! Just wanted to share with this group as many of you can understand what it feels like to support your parents when they’re old, not the other way around. I feel so blessed I can help him. 🙏🏽

Fourth-year associate. I will soon be commuting to Midtown Manhattan to a firm that pays market. From a financial perspective, am I completely nuts to be driving in and parking? My wife often calls me by 5:45/6 to ask where I am if I’m not headed home yet. Sometimes she’s stressed with kids/dogs/dinner and really wants me home. Have been hunting desperately for childcare bc spouse and I are both FT lawyers trying to handle 4 immunocompromised elementary age kids at home but have been striking out. My wife and I are both terrible housekeepers and our clutter is overwhelming us. We have two kids under 3 and a wonderful nanny but we need more help at home. How do we throw money at this problem? Where do we start to get ongoing professional help decluttering, organizing, cleaning, etc.? What has worked for you?

Going back to work next month. Have a full time nanny but feel like even that isnt enough. I work all sorts of timezones. Europe has my morning, Asia has my evening. Nanny 9-5? 7-3? 10-6? No clue what will work best and don’t want to be inconsistent with her. Any advice on the return?
