Unpopular opinion but I am extremely strict with my phone usage and it has completely altered my adult ADHD. I know ADHD is a real thing, but I think so much of what we think is ADHD these days is actually just phone-induced stress/distraction/dopamine rushes and crashes. I have no social media, no "fun" apps and I keep my phone out of reach as much as possible throughout the day. It has completely changed my life, can't recommend it enough

The best thing I did was to start tracking data so I could conduct proper experiments. What dosage should I take when, how much water and caffeine and when, how do I feel at certain parts of the day. That was the starting point for all other improvements. Because what good is it to find a good tool to manage your ADHD if you can’t later replicate it?

Working with an ADHD Coach has changed my practice and my life. Through coaching, I’ve been able to implement many strategies to get my work done and time billed. Getting an Apple Watch has also been immensely helpful for alarms and reminders.

I am not a lawyer but I do struggle with ADHD and it does interfere with my work. I have a therapist who I work with regularly to help me with my schedule and my day to day routine which has helped. I am going to have to grab that book and give it a read OP.

That’s helpful, I’m going to prioritize this with my therapist. Re the book: I just found it on my Spotify premium. Looks like it was just released last week and does not have a rating yet. I’m going to check out the free audiobook lol

What misconceptions do you think people have about social work? or therapy?

Might be off topic, but guys please, take care of your health. I've been rejected by all companies in the last 2 months.
I had my Walmart interview today and it went really well. And guess what? I got a rejection email.
I felt dizziness while working and fell down today.
I had to go to the doctor due to the anxiety and stress I was carrying since the last 2 months. It has affected my health.

It's important to push yourself to achieve your goals, but don't forget to "Live" in the process.

Should I be concerned about abusing adderell? I was depressed/lacking motivation and needed to get some deals done and my hours up ASAP. Convinced my doctor I had ADHD, so I now have a legal prescription. I feel so much better, and am getting so much accomplished. No judgement please. We all know this is a high stress, high pressure environment.

Have you ever dealt with a colleague that believes in extremely (in my opinion) outdated or even just false claims and treats them as scientific facts? I work with several older men but one of them practices "provocative therapy" as in you just play the devil's advocate with your patient and side with the negative half of their thinking. In theory I could see this working situationally, but as a whole philosophy regardless of the patient's issue I think it's ridiculous.

I have a looming sense of self hatred. I take medication I workout and do all the things to feel good, but it’s just stuck there. Constantly thinking I’m trash, in a bad person, etc. Feeling guilty for things idek if I should feel guilty about. This is a privileged problem and I know it’s minuscule to compared to the actual struggles of so many people in the US and abroad. I started a new job recently and then had my PTSD seriously triggered, plus a panic attack. Felt so on edge and low on emotional resources for over a week that I wasn’t myself and apparently really rubbed a few people the wrong way so I was called in for a talking to 😣. I let people know there were some personal things going on, but didn’t mention the PTSD—very unsure if that’s something to share, or if I’d be judged for it or... I don’t even know. Has anyone else dealt with PTSD and had it impact them at work, and how did you handle it?

I've been always eating tons of sugar growing up and I've finally decided to stop eating heavily processed food/sweets a month ago. Turns out I was really addicted without realizing it and I truly experienced mental and physical symptoms during the last few weeks (cravings, fatigue, dizziness, etc.), but feeling better every day. Anyone experienced anything similar? I don't smoke and don't even drink coffee (yep, no caffeine at all) so I never realized how dependent on something I was.

What do you guys think about apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace? I understand they might have real therapists working on their content, but a lot of the marketing I see is so vague and broad that it feels like a lie. Seems like "This app got rid of my anxiety with a 30-minute automated text questionnaire" is the new "This tea made me lose 20 pounds in two weeks!" Just seems a little fad-like and money grabby to me. Thoughts?

Working as CAL Manager with Accenture S&C India. Offered ~GBP 76.5K (fixed plus flexi) at Manager Grade by Deloitte London.

Prior to Accenture, I have already served as S&O Manager with Deloitte India for ~1.5 yrs - so this would be my second stint with Deloitte as Manager "again".

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.

Are people still live on here? I was diagnosed last year with ADD and I’ve tried two stimulants so far. I know they aren’t meant to be a magic pill but I’m still struggling with general tasks and feel like I’m doing the bare minimum. The Nurse has suggested I try non stimulants. After 4 years I want to leave law because of my adhd! I have been to 4 different firms and at each place I feel like I have been “found out”. At every place at least one attorney catches me about my attention to detail. I am so down on myself now. I can’t bring myself to care about small details that I know don’t actually matter. I’m one of the only attorneys in my Texas firm that had electricity, internet, and water this week. I was warm and comfortable but still could not get any work done because things going on in the outside world are distracting. When I try to work, I feel like I can barely hold a thought in my mind before I get the “wait, what am I doing again?” feeling. I just want to know, I’m not the only one that struggled this week to do any work, right?

Does anyone work in an area with lots of exterior environmental noise (traffic, concerts, trains, etc.) and have tips for not becoming overwhelmed and/or distracted by it? I’m finding that environmental noise has increased near my office now that tourism has picked back up in my city, and I’m struggling to block it out. I’ve tried earplugs but the noises tend to vibrate my office building so the earplugs don’t work well as an entire block.
